Working All The Time

I have been one of the lucky ones who has been working all through the pandemic. I work for a company that sells equipment that is essential to the operation of hospitals, government, business and homes. We have a a couple cases at my work but no outbreaks. We have a had delays in getting products from our manufacturing plants due to the pandemic which caused backorders. Mix that with the demand for our products and we have been busy at the warehouse. I have worked a lot of overtime in the past year.

There have been weeks I have worked all 7 days. That means working 12 to 13 days straight. One of the things, I like about my job is the in normal times I work Monday through Friday with a Saturday once or twice a month. I do not mind working or the overtime but I have gotten to the point my worklife and personal life is out of balance.  I am working so much right now, I have little time to take care of things outside of work.

Last Saturday, I was sick and had to call off from work which brother me a lot. I take pride in the fact that I am at work when I am supposed to be at work. I figured I have dehydrated from not drinking enough water the night before at work. I take a cooler to work everyday with 4 bottles of water, 2 bottles of Gatorade,  2 bottles of Propel and 2 bottles of tea. Most days, I will at least half the bottles in my cooler. There are days, I will drink almost all the bottles in the cooler. I try to stay hydrated but the Friday before I got busy with my work I did not drink much of my drinks.

I have overworked myself and I paid for it. It managed to rehydrate myself with Gatorade and water on Saturday. Sunday, I got some Pedialyte and drunk it. That made me feel so much better. I have been making sure that I have been drinking the water throughout my day when I have to work.

In a couple weeks, I am taking a few days off and heading over to Gatlinburg for a little me time. I just plan on relaxing at the hotel and doing a few things in the Great Smokies National Park and the other attractions in the area.
